Today was Pink Shirt Day! During our assembly we learned about how we need to stand up for each other if someone is being bullied. Then the students from William D. Pratt came and helped us create pink shirts. Below is the video we watched about how Pink Shirt Day started.

Today we had our first session with the artist in residence. We discussed several pieces that make up a community and selected one to sketch. We learned that this was the one time where teachers did not want us to think but to look with our eyes at the details. Ask me about what I choose to sketch and how I looked at the details when I was sketching.

1) Pink Shirt day: is tomorrow. Remember to wear pink to show your support or if your child does not have any pink they can wear their ROS spirit clothing.

Help save the Polar Bears!  We are asking you to take the Thermostat Challenge and turn down the heat in your homes and at school by 2 degrees!  This will help save the sea ice that polar bears need for survival.  This week grade 2 students are celebrating International Polar Bear Day and as part of that celebration, we would like to invite everyone to take part in this challenge.  You can make a difference!
Thank you from the grade 2 students!

Today we made some beautiful art work after the style of Jim Dine. We used oil pastel to create stunning hearts. Before we started our final piece we practiced different oil pastel techniques then discussed colour combinations that would go well. Once our final art pieces where completed we wrote kindness notes to our classmates around the art work.

1) No school: February 15th and 16th due to teachers convention as well as Feb 19th due to Family Day.
